Our story started during Boston’s first snowstorm of the year in the fall of 2019. Sneha was going back to grad school in New Jersey after spending Thanksgiving with her beloved relatives in Winchester and William had just gotten back to his Medford apartment after spending the holiday with his family in Maine. A missed alarm and a missed meet-up at South Station, our hearts sank a little that perhaps this relationship wasn’t meant to cross state lines. But little did we know that we would meet back up in Boston in a couple of months and quickly become friends exploring different parts of the city. One of our first expeditions involved walking from Medford Square to Santarpio’s Pizza in East Boston, a journey that many people told us is impossible to complete legally on foot.
The past few years have been incredible as we supported each other through the pandemic, found joy in the little things that life has to offer, and gradually got to know about the different worlds we come from. Together we have tried out many food and cocktail recipes, laughed too hard at stand-up comedy shows, groaned about the lack of mass transit options, canvassed for better policy at city hall, and delighted in finding good bagels.
We made it back home safe after that long pizza hike. And now we are very excited to get married at Medford City Hall and celebrate with our family and friends where it all began.
